Signed by: Edward Clive as Govenor of Madras; Major-General James Stuart, as Commander-in-Chief of Madras; and William Petrie, as acting Governor of Fort St. George.
John Crosdill (1772 or 1773-1849) retired in 1821 with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Madras Artillery. He was first appointed in 1788. Crosdill served in the Anglo-Maratha Wars, at the Battle of Sitabuldi, and the capture of Nagpur, 1817. See: Wheeler, S. Annals of the Oriental Club, 1925.
