'Mechanick exercises' was issued in 14 parts in monthly numbers beginning in 1677 and ending in 1680. It describes the materials, tools, operations, and terms of smithing, house carpentry, and turnery. In 1700, nine years after Joseph Moxon's death another number was issued on bricklayers' work, presumably by Moxon's son, James. This was added to a third edition published 1700. Cf. Harris.
